Foam Sclerotherapy

Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian is one of the leading physicians in the United States for a technique known as foam sclerotherapy.  In fact, Dr. Karamanoukian was featured on multiple episodes of The Doctors, demonstrating his unique approach to veins and spider veins.  Whether or not these spider veins are on your face, body, or legs, Dr. Karamanoukian can employ a combination of treatments that can eradicate the veins for good. Spider vein injections are safe and easy and can be incorporated into a busy lifestyle.

Clinical Data:

A study published in Dermatologic Surgery 2010 June from the Department of Dermatology and Vascular Surgery at the Vein Centre Ruhr University Bochum provided insight into the efficacy of foam sclerotherapy of varicose veins.  Review of the literature by the study authors regarding foam sclerotherapy identified that foam sclero has significantly better efficacy than liquid sclerotherapy and that the procedure is safe and effective in the hands of an experienced physician.   Foam sclerotherapy has become the gold standard for vein treatment in Europe and the rest of the world.  The benefits of foam sclerotherapy are appealing to those patients who seek non-surgical treatment of their unwanted spider and varicose veins.

Foam sclerotherapy is an extension of liquid sclerotherapy.  Foam sclero can be performed using several safe sclerotherapy medicines that can form microbubble suspensions when agitated.  Unlike traditional sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy requires reduced amounts of sclerosant to treat the vein endothelium.
